Before considering to upgrade Kar2ouche please determine the version and build number of Kar2ouche in your working environment.  To do this, open the Kar2ouche application and select the red Utilities tab.  Click the embossed 'Kar2ouche' button at the bottom of the screen and the information window will pop up.  You will find the build number and version in here.

For those customers who have an older version of Kar2ouche version 3.0 (less than Build 48) either download the file packs as explained in the instructions below, or contact us for a new CD pack*.
If you are performing a fresh installation of all the Kar2ouche software using a new Composer version 3.0 CD pack, then please remember to uninstall all earlier versions first.  To uninstall Kar2ouche from an Apple Mac please see http://support.immersiveeducation.eu/index.php?catId=123&submit=Go&ToDo=browse.

If you have created a package for Kar2ouche Composer then you will need to either create a new Composer package for future distribution or amend the current Composer package.  For those workstations that have Composer installed already, you can either redistribute the new/amended Composer package or perform the upgrade directly on each workstation.

If you have created an image including Kar2ouche Composer then you will need to upgrade Composer on the image for future image distributions.  For those workstations that have Composer installed already, you can either redistribute the amended image or perform the upgrade directly on each workstation.

Using the upgrade file packs to upgrade Kar2ouche

1. You may wish to make a backup of your current Kar2ouche installation before upgrading.  This can be a complete backup of the Kar2ouche directories and files, or you can rename the directories or files that are being replaced.

2. Select the appropriate instructions below to match your Kar2ouche build number:

• For Kar2ouche build number 38 and above (Version 3.0 only)
  
a. Go to ftp://ftp.immersivesupport.com/ to access the download service.  At the secure login prompt type in username u37833230-customer and password customer

The upgrade file packs you need to download are as follows:

To upgrade Windows operating systems, open directory WIN Kar2ouche Upgrade Pack and save the file Kar2ouche Exe Latest Build.zip to your desktop.  You do not require any other files.  Extract the contents of the zip file into a suitable location.

To upgrade Apple Mac operating systems, open directory MAC Kar2ouche Upgrade Pack and save the file Kar2ouche 301rc5 Build.sit to your desktop.  You do not require any other files.  Extract the contents of the sit file into a suitable location.

b.  Replace your current Kar2ouche executable file with the new Kar2ouche executable file extracted from the download. 


• For Kar2ouche build number 37 or under (Version 3.0 only)
 
a. Go to ftp://ftp.immersivesupport.com/ to access the download service (refresh the browser page if message 'Page cannot be displayed' appears!).  At the secure login prompt type in username u37833230-customer and password customer

The upgrade file packs you need to download are as follows:

To upgrade Windows operating systems, open directory WIN Kar2ouche Upgrade Pack and save files Kar2ouche Exe Latest Build.zip, Kar2ouche Default Interface.zip and Kar2ouche Composer Interface.zip to your desktop.  Extract the contents of each zip file into a suitable location.

To upgrade Apple Mac operating systems, open directory MAC Kar2ouche Upgrade Pack and save the files Kar2ouche 301rc5 Build.sit, Kar2ouche Composer Interface and Kar2ouche Default Interface.sit to your desktop.  Extract the contents of each sit file into a suitable location.

b.  Replace the current Kar2ouche executable file with the new Kar2ouche executable file extracted from the download. 

c. Replace the extracted files from the Kar2ouche Default Interface folder into the ...Kar2ouche > Content Modules > Default directory.
Note: Make a copy of the serials.txt file and copy it back to the Interface directory once you have upgraded.  If you have made any changes to the Kar2ouche screen size you should also make a copy of the interface.ini file and copy it back to the Interface directory once you have upgraded.

d.  Replace the extracted files from the Kar2ouche Composer Interface folder into the ...Kar2ouche > Content Modules > Composer directory.

3. Please remember to empty the trash or recycle bin once you have upgraded.  Even if the old executable is in the trash or recycle bin it can still be 'active'!
